Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cerner Scheduling Analyst to optimize scheduling templates for both inpatient and outpatient services. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Cerner Millennium, strong analytical skills, and a passion for improving operational efficiency. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal resource utilization, patient satisfaction, and overall operational performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Template Optimization:
  • Analyze current scheduling templates to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
  • Design and implement optimized scheduling templates for various clinical specialties and service lines.
  • Consider factors such as provider availability, patient volume, and appointment duration to maximize scheduling efficiency.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to understand their scheduling needs and preferences.
  • Workflow Analysis:
  • Map out current scheduling workflows to identify areas for improvement.
  • Propose and implement changes to streamline processes and reduce manual tasks.
  • Utilize Cerner’s reporting and analytics tools to monitor performance metrics.
  • System Configuration:
  • Configure Cerner Millennium to support optimized scheduling workflows.
  • Create and maintain custom reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and resolve user problems.
  • Training and Support:
  • Provide training and support to end-users on optimized scheduling processes and system functionalities.
  • Develop user-friendly documentation and training materials.
  • Assist with change management initiatives to ensure a smooth transition to new workflows.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Cerner functionalities and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for further optimization and automation.
  • Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, information systems, or a related field.
    • Proven experience with Cerner Millennium, specifically in scheduling and optimization.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.  
    • Knowledge of healthcare operations and workflows.
    • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certification in Cerner Millennium or related healthcare IT certifications.
    • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
    • Knowledge of SQL or other programming languages.
