iMethods is seeking a Director of Infrastructure and Operations for a large health system in NY. This is a consultant opportunity that may require travel onsite based on the needs of the client.
This position is accountable for the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization's IT architecture, physical operation and performance of data centers, servers, networks, storage, email, active directory, unified communications, information security and other technology platforms shared across the organization ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained.
Leads the development of the infrastructure strategy, architecture, technology standards, service delivery standards and procedures for the enterprise A
Analyzes and predicts trends and develops short- and long-range plans designed to maintain cost effectiveness of the enterprise's IT infrastructure
Participates in IT strategy planning activities, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of infrastructure technology and systems and best practices as related to the needs of the business
Proactively researches and recommends courses of action to prevent problems and to maintain high infrastructure service levels for the user community
Establishes metrics, key performance indicators and service level agreements for driving performance of IT service delivery
Ensures the enterprise has the capability to support new technologies and maintain high levels of network performance and reliability
Directs all telecommunications activities, primarily for the strategic planning and design of voice, data, video, and image telecommunications systems enterprise-wide
Coordinates telecommunications software, hardware and systems capabilities including client server architectures
Reviews infrastructure project requests and provides overall direction/guidance to assigned project personnel
Reviews and evaluates work of subordinate staff and prepares performance reports
Prepares activity and progess reports
Experience with a variety of technologies including load balancing, caching, virtualization, traditional and application firewalls, database systems, telecommunications, data centers, cloud providers, various storage systems, monitor and alerting, etc.
Experience with consumer-facing, web-based, international company – growing organically and via acquisitions.
Experience managing compliance efforts including HIPPA, PCI , and other related compliance agencies and implementing IT controls to ensure compliance and compliance testing.
Familiar with implementation of best practices – processes and procedures – and documentation.
Forward-thinking and excellent planning skills – able to develop monthly, quarterly, yearly, 3-year plans
Nature and Scope Direct all aspects of:
Backups and Recovery
Data Center and Data Center Operations
Networking and Networks (wired, wireless, cellular)
Unified Communications (convergence of voice, data and network)
Firewalls
All servers including all operating systems
Infrastructure applications such as enterprise email
Staffing: Manage all aspects of effective use of human resources including:
Effective selection, hiring and on-boarding
Training, mentoring, development
Timely and candid evaluation, coaching, discipline and discharge
Budgets:
Annually budget for capital and operating resources needed to meet organization needs
Identify, justify, prioritize
Consider alternatives
Develop ROI analysis as appropriate
Monitor and manage to budgets throughout the year.
Anticipate, explain and track variances
Track impact of decisions and expected changes for future budget cycles
Planning, Coordination, Performance Improvement:
Support strategic planning by providing insights, analysis, recommendations. Identify opportunities
Perform continuous operational planning in support of effective and efficient IT and business operations
Continuously look for ways to streamline and improve IT and business operations and performance
Coordinate work with peers and other sections of the IT division
Work Planning, Assignment, Project Management etc:
Plan work in support of organization needs and against available resource capacity
Assign work, set clear expectations for deliverables, timelines
Monitor progress, adjust plans, take action when needed to ensure successful and timely delivery
Evaluate work products and provide feedback (positive and negative)
Ensure timely work completion
Use standard Project Management methods and work products, oversee multiple concurrent projects
Maximize benefits of investments, optimize effectiveness of IT and business operations
Communicate status, issues, risks, help needed, progress etc timely and effectively
Customer Relationship Management & IT Governance: Work closely with assigned internal customers' to
Manage customer relationships
Understand customer needs and opportunities, facilitate customer understanding of IT
Manage customer expectations, provide timely communications
Manage customers' work requests and outstanding work request queue (prioritization, work scheduling etc)
Provide customer with options for work timing, work sequencing and use of contract labor
Plan for staff and budget resources needed to meet customer needs.
Facilitate Information Technology Steering Committee and Sub-Committee work
Vendor / Technology assessment, selection and management:
Evaluate vendors and technologies
Evaluate proposals
Review, negotiate and manage vendor contracts
Run and participate in structured system selection processes
Analyze options, summarize findings, make recommendations
Ensure compatibility and integration with existing and planned systems
Monitor and manage vendor performance and compliance with contract terms
Document, report and escalate vendor performance problems as appropriate
