PeriOperative Methods

As the first wave of COVID-19 begins to show signs of subsiding in some parts of the US, and states release restrictions on elective procedures, hospital systems are working frantically to ramp back up operations that were abruptly shut down two months ago.

With the PeriOp Methods program, your leadership can benefit from deep subject matter expertise and years of experience in the perioperative space. Our team can provide a host of advisory and technical services designed to get your Operating Rooms back online safely and efficiently, and at a pace that aligns with the needs of your organization, staff and community.

Perioperative Process Assessment

During this assessment, which is deliberately designed to quickly identify core challenges and opportunities for your surgery practice, we will start with a brief questionnaire. A few sample questions are listed below:

  • When do you plan to start rescheduling?
  • What are your goals for prioritization of cases?
  • What is the facility based preparedness level for PPE, surgery supplies, cleaning/disinfecting?
  • What tools and references will you use to guide your path forward?
  • Do you have a Rescheduling Committee formed for decision-making?

In addition, we will conduct a high level review of your organization’s current capabilities (staff, supplies, COVID tests), conduct a gap analysis on processes and procedures and review current case costing.

Advisory Services

The assessment will provide a clear picture of your goals and organizational readiness and will help us map out a detailed action plan that addresses opportunities for efficiencies and scheduling methodologies that generate the greatest opportunities for ROI.

Recommendations will be based on resource availability, cost metrics, patient access and – of course -patient safety. We also will ensure that our guidance incorporates then current guidance from the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Anesthesia Society of America (ASA), Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

We have designed the PeriOp Methods program to adapt to the unique challenges facing individual health systems, including COVID case saturation, staff availability and testing capabilities. We can help you rebuild your surgery practice as safely and quickly as possible.
